1. Communist — a daily newspaper, organ of the Central Committee and of the Baku Committee of the Azerbaijanian Communist Party (Bolsheviks), published in the Azerbaijanian language. The first number was issued illegally by the Bolshevik organisation in'Azerbaijan on August 29, 1919, after which the paper was suppressed by the Mussavat government. Publication was resumed on April 30, 1920, after the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan. J. V. Stalin's greetings were published in the Azerbaijanian language in the newspaper Communist on December 29, 1923, and in the Russian language in the newspaper Bakinsky Rabochy (Baku Worker), on December 30, 1923, and Zarya Vostoka (Dawn of the East), on January 3, 1924.
