SWP history films
These are three silent films of the US Socialist Workers Party from the 1930s and 1940s:
1. From 1941 (17 minutes): on the Minneapolis (Smith Act) sedition trial of 28 leaders of the SWP and Teamsters Local 544.
2. From 1948 (12 minutes): on the 1948 convention of the SWP, including a public rally launching the party’s first national election campaign, of Farrell Dobbs for president and Grace Carlson for vice president.
3. From 1939 (10 minutes): on the publication of the party’s newspaper, the Socialist Appeal. In the film are a number of party leaders, such as James P. Cannon, Max Shachtman, and others.
Please note: there is a short gap between the films.
